The recent statement by Dr. Ismail Bimpe Adewoyin, threatening to initiate a recall process against Senator Fatai Buhari, is baseless and a clear display of political opportunism and ignorance of constitutional procedures. Adewoyin’s position as secretary of a caretaker committee or officer of the Oke-Ogun Development Consultative Forum (ODCF) does not grant him the authority to issue statements on behalf of the community or traditional institutions.
Barrister Abdulwaheed Lawal stated this in a rejoinder to a publication sponsored by Dr Ismail Adewoyin titled, ‘Sen. Fatai Buhari May Face Recall Over Alleged Disrespect To Oke-Ogun Traditional Institutions’

According to him, Adewoyin’s allegations against Senator Buhari lack substance and are rooted in misinformation. Senator Buhari has consistently demonstrated respect for traditional rulers and has worked tirelessly for the progress of Oke-Ogun. His efforts to facilitate the establishment of the Federal University of Agriculture and Technology in Okeho have been widely appreciated by stakeholders, including traditional rulers, who maintain cordial relationships with him.
In his words: “It is essential to highlight that disrespect towards traditional institutions is not a legal ground for recalling a senator. The process for recall, as outlined in Section 69 of the 1999 Constitution, requires significant mobilization, including a petition signed by more than half of registered voters in the constituency, verification by INEC, and a referendum”
Senator Buhari represents 13 local governments—a constituency larger than some states—and has delivered impactful projects that benefit the community. His achievements include job creation and youth empowerment initiatives that have positively transformed lives in Oke-Ogun. To undermine such progress for personal vendettas is both irresponsible and counterproductive.
We challenge Adewoyin to provide evidence supporting his claims against Senator Buhari. His reckless comments should be dismissed as mere attention-seeking rhetoric. We call on Saki Parapo and ODCF to clarify their stance on Adewoyin’s actions and dissociate themselves from his baseless threats.
Let us focus on unity and communal development rather than divisive politics. We stand firmly behind Senator Buhari and encourage him to continue his commendable work for our community.
