Project Nigeria Positively, Pastor Akande Advises Journalists

The lead Pastor, Word Alive Ministries, Total man Assembly, Dr. Sola Akande has called on journalists to embrace the habit of projecting the image of their Nigeria in good manner, stressing that the success or otherwise of every government lies in their hands.

Pastor Akande made the call on Sunday in his sermon at the thanksgiving service held at the church auditorium, popularly known as The Stone Church, in Iyaganku, to usher in the 2024 Press Week of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Oyo State Council.

The clergy said journalists should always project Nigeria in positive ways, as done in other advanced countries, rather than using their pen to ridicule the nation.

He further affirmed that Nigeria is a nation that will bounce back into glory, despite various challenges confronting the country.

The clergy also expressed optimism that with positive reportage of the country by the media, the country will become greater.

The clergyman pointed out that there are lots of positive developments in Nigeria which are being under reported, charging members of the union not to join mischievous ones who thrive in running down the country.

Akande noted that journalists are the hopes of the voiceless, hence, the need to report positive happenings in the country.

The Pastor urged Nigerians to be optimistic about a better nation.

He said the challenges facing Nigeria are not exclusive.

According to him, no country gets everything it looks for, therefore, it is important to know God.

Giving a biblical allusion, Dr. Akande said: “In 2kings, chapters 7, the Lord asked Elisha to tell the Samarians that by this time tomorrow, the Lord will provide plenty of cheap food in Samaria.”

He therefore urged Nigerians to always say positive things about the country, adding that all hope is not lost over the country.
