Oyo Govt Secures Land Tenure for Oluyole Communities

The Oyo State Government has commenced regularization of title documents for several communities within the Oluyole Local Government area, and also granting them status of State Government Tenants.

The Commissioner for Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Mr. Williams Akin Funmilayo at a recent meeting with residents from Baare, Ojo Ekun, Odo – Ona Kekere, Aboke, Alawo, Ajao, Asaka communities disclosed that well established villages, which predate the government’s acquisition in 2006, will now enjoy a new level of security and recognition.

The Commissioner further clarified that the regularization process is a strategic decision to ease the communities of acquisition constraints, as they are not situated on lands earmarked for State development.

He assured residents that no demolitions are planned, instead, town planners will conduct site inspections to provide building plan guidance where necessary.

Mr Williams Akin Funmilayo also said that residents would be subjected to payment of statutory fees into the State’s coffers following property enumeration and the calculation of the Land Use Charge, ensuring that the financial impact on the occupants shall be minimal.

Responding, one of the community leaders, Mr. Azeez Abideen Abiodun expressed his gratitude to His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde for the ongoing road rehabilitation efforts within the community, expressing satisfaction in this administration’s commitment to infrastructural development.
