Omo Ajorosun Elects New Executive Council in Landslide Victory

Chief Sunday Oyekanmi Gbenjo Emerges New President, Pledges to Build on Legacy of Late President, Founding Leaders and Past Excos

In a decisive and historic election, members of Omo Ajorosun Club, Ibadan, have elected a new executive council to steer the affairs of the club for the next tenure.

The election, a run-off to fill vacant positions, which took place on Sunday, 28th April, 2024 at the club’s secretariat, saw Chief Sunday Oyekanmi Gbenjo emerging as the new President of the club.

Chief Gbenjo, a seasoned administrator and community leader, polled an impressive 71 votes to defeat his opponent, Dr. Robinson Omotajo, who secured 47 votes.

The new President, in his acceptance speech, thanked the members for their overwhelming support and pledged to build on the legacy of the late President, Engr. Akinpelu Solomon Adeniji, who passed away last December.

“I am humbled by this victory and I promise to work tirelessly to justify the confidence reposed in me by the members,” Chief Gbenjo said.

“My administration will focus on promoting the welfare of our members, empowering our youth, and contributing to the development of our community.

“We will also ensure that the legacy of our founding fathers including past presidents and recently late President, Engr. Adeniji, is preserved and built upon.”

The election was necessitated by the sudden death of the reigning President, Engr. Akinpelu Solomon Adeniji, who passed away in December last year.

Dr. Olugbade Omotajo, the serving Public Relations Officer, had resigned to contest against Chief Gbenjo, who was hitherto a floor member of the club.

In another decisive win, the new Public Relations Officer emerged with 90 votes, defeating his opponent who garnered 39 votes.

The new executive council also includes other elected officers, who will work together to achieve the goals and objectives of the club.

The election was conducted in a peaceful and transparent manner, with members commending the electoral committee for a job well done.

Omo Ajorosun Club, Ibadan, is a socio-cultural organization that aims to promote the welfare and well-being of its members and the community at large.

With this new executive council, the club is expected to continue its good work and make meaningful contributions to the development of the society.
