The Olubadan of Ibadanland His Imperial Majesty Oba (Dr) Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin ( Ige Olakulehin 1) has commended the leadership of Nigeria Union of Journalists for its excellent performance.
The Olubadan of Ibadanland gave the commendation during the courtesy visit paid to him at his palace located at Oke Aremo, Ibadan on Tuesday.
Representing the paramount ruler was the High Chief Raifu Amusa Eleruwere the Ekefa Balogun of Ibadanland who disclosed that Olubadan appreciated the visit and prayed that the union would wax stronger.
” As the Chairman of Oyo State NUJ, it has been noticed that the Oyo NUJ under your leadership witnessed peace, unity, both human and infrastructural development, please don’t rest on your oars” the monarch pleaded.
In his speech, the Chairman Oyo NUJ, Chief Ademola Babalola revealed that they were at the palace to receive royal blessings from Olubadan of Ibadanland for the unity, progress and development of the union.
The Oyo NUJ boss appreciated the economic, development and peaceful co-existence witnessed since the installation of the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland Oba Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin.
He assured the monarch that Oyo NUJ will continue to support Ibadanland and Oyo State as a whole in the areas of promotion and preservation of Yoruba cultural values.
Accompanying the NUJ Chairman on the courtesy visit were the Vice Chairman. Messers Seye Ojo, the Secretary Sola Oladapo, Treasurer Akeem Abass , Financial Secretary Abiodun Atilola , Mrs Ayoade Omolara and Mrs Mosun Akinola among others.
In a related development, members of “Omo Yoruba Atata” Socio-Cultural Initiative led by Olawale Ajao also visited the Olubadan of Ibadanland.
According to the leader of the team , they were at the palace to intimate the Olubadan about the initiative of the group to promote Yoruba Head Dressing to the world at an enviable level to be adopted by UNESCO.
According to Mr.Olawale Ajao, the World Head Dressing event will comprise wearing of caps (fila) of different types and styles by men as well as head gears (gele ) of different types and styles for women which they believe have economic and cultural values, symbolising victory during wars, heritage, cultural identification and safe delivery during childbirth among others.
Accompanying Mr. Olawale Ajao were Mrs Toyin Malik among others.
Gracing the two occasions were Chief Kayode Afolabi , Oota Balogun of Ibadanland, the President General of Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes ( CCII ) Chief (Barr. ) Sulaiman Ajeniyi Ajewole, President Council of Baales of Ibadanland,Baale Oladapo Wasiu , Baale (Elder) Taye Ayorinde, Baale Muyiwa Oguntona , Aremo Olubadan of Ibadanland, Barr. Sunmbo Owolabi Olakulehin and Prince Adekunle Owolabi Olakulehin.
