Despite his side’s 4-0 win over Abia Warriors FC, Technical Adviser of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC), Gbenga Ogunbote, admitted his team was stretched by the Umuahia based side.
Addressing the press after Sunday’s Matchday 34 encounter, Oracle, as the gaffer is fondly called, said the visitors made his team to labour for the maximum points.
“It was a good match, I know their coach (Bethel Orji) is a sound coach and Abia Warriors have a competent team. We needed to sweat to get the result” said Ogunbote who however gave reasons why his side failed to score in the first half, despite creating lots of chances.
“In the first half, we should have taken the lead, but there was a lot of anxiety. Anxiety because we have few matches to go and there have been intimidating results before now.
“In addition, Abia Warriors being a good side, were able to resist every antics we put up until the second half.
“I think, the important thing was that my team was playing well, the missing factor was the goal, until we got it right”, added the former Sunshine Stars, Lobi Stars and Remo Stars’ handler.
The ex Rangers International sweat merchant, hailed the team’s supporters and fans for their tremendous backing.
“I must express my appreciation, on behalf of the entire team to our supporters and fans, as well as journalists, who believed in us and have been standing by us through the thick and thin. Their support have been very helpful to us”, stated the 3SC chief tactician.
