Prof. Adeolu Akande, former Chairman of Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has appealed to groups and factions in the All Progressives Congress(APC) in Oyo State to settle their differences for the party to conviniently win the forthcoming local government election in the state.
The APC Chieftain made the plea on Wednesday in Otu, headquarters of Itesiwaju Local Government area of Oyo State, when he hosted party Chairmen and the Chairmanship candidates of the party in the 10 local government areas of Oke Ogun Zone in April 27 local government election.
According to Prof. Akande, the party had suffered from the outcome of the 2022 Congress, and it was time for the members to “forgive and forget” in the interest of the party and people of the state who are daily yearning for a progressive government.
In his words, “there was no better time for the party to unite better than for the local government election where the party needed the unity of members to cruise to victory”.
“The national leadership of the party had been making moves to ensure reconciliation in the party in the state, that the onus is on members of the party to allow reconciliation and unity” he stated.
The party Chieftain further remarked that Oyo State is an APC state but the crisis in the party cost it the 2023 governorship election.
He thereafter gave financial support of #500,000.00 to the party in each of the 10 local government areas towards their preparation for the April 27 local government election.
Present at the event were the APC party Chairmen in the 10 local governments of Oke Ogun Zone as well as the Chairmanship candidates in the 10 Council areas. Others at the event were 21 former local government chairmen and notable leaders in Oke Ogun area of the state.
