Gov Adeleke Approves New Department of Information, Youth, Sports and Culture in Osun LG Service

The Osun State Government has taken a significant step towards promoting youth development, cultural heritage, and information dissemination at the grassroots level, as a new Department of Information, Youth, Sports, and Culture has been created and is now operational in the Local Government Service of Osun State ¹.

This development is a result of the passage of a bill by the Osun State House of Assembly and subsequent approval by Governor Senator Ademola Adeleke in August.

The Local Government Service Commission on Friday released the posting of the first set of directors for the department, with instructions to resume immediately.

In his remarks, Mrs Modupe
Irelewuyi, the Permanent Secretary of the Commission, urged Information Officers to contribute meaningfully to the state’s development through proper information management.

The newly created department is expected to enhance the promotion of youth development, cultural heritage, and information dissemination.

Earlier,the Permanent Secretary of the Commission,Mrs Modupe Irelewuyi had charged all information officers to reciprocate the good gesture of the state Governor by contributing meaningfully to the development of the state.

One of the newly posted director, Mrs Ramota Oyewale stated that he was warmly received by other directors and was taken round the premises of the council secretariat.

The Chairman Forum of Head of Local Government Administration, Dr Wale Adedapo assured the officers in the newly created department that his colleagues in all the Local Government,Local Council Development Areas and Area Council in the state would provide enabling environment for the new department to thrive

The Old department has also been renamed Department of Community Development,Education Social welfare,Women and Children Affairs and Directors were also posted out immediately.

The Chairman,of the defunct department,Prince Shadrach Ologbenla applauded the courage of the present state administration and assured that they will never let government down in the discharge of duties in the two departments

The establishment of Department of Information, Youth Sports, and Culture is expected to enhance promotion of youth development, cultural heritage, and information dissemination at the grassroots level.

As the department begins its operations, Osun State is poised to witness a new era of growth and development in these critical areas.
