Oyo State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Salihu Adelabu,on Monday commended the management of the Government College, Ibadan; Second Home College, Ibadan and Mr. Babarinde Samson Oluwaseun from Methodist Basic School Iseyin, won the President’s Teachers and School Awards respectively, for the State.
The Commissioner, while playing host to the winning Teacher, Mr. Babarinde Samson Oluwaseun and the Principals of the Two Schools in his Office, Secretariat, Ibadan, appreciated them for being good ambassadors of the State.
Prof. Adelabu explained that the award is testament to the fact that Oyo state has committed, competent and hardworking teachers.
He, therefore, reiterated the commitment of the present administration to the welfare of teachers, especially in the areas of training and re-training, prompt payment of salaries and improved conducive environment for teaching and learning in public schools through infrastructure renewal.
He assured that the teachers’ wellbeing will continue to be given priority by the State Government.
The number one teacher in the state, enjoined other teachers in the state to emulate good gestures of the awardees by being good ambassadors of the State.
He further urged the teacher to see the award as a motivation to continue to do the best, knowing that such commitment will one day be rewarded.
In his words, “The effectiveness of our teachers can be judged or measured by the President’s Teachers and School Excellent Awards of Excellence Received.
“I urged other teachers in the State to emulate them by staying committed because they remain the mirror with which students view themselves”.
“I advise that our teachers continue to uphold the ethics of the teaching profession and display an uncommon sense of responsibility and greater commitment to duty,”.
“The awardees include: Government College, Ibadan; Second Home College, Olodo, Ibadan, Mr. Babarinlo Samson Oluwaseun from Methodist Basic School, Iseyin.
