Chief Imam of Ogbomoso Hails Oyo Deputy Gov for Promoting Peaceful Coexistence

Oyo State’s Deputy Governor, Chief Adebayo Lawal, has received commendations for promoting peaceful coexistence among Muslim Ummah across the state.

The Grand Chief Imam of Ogbomosoland, Dr.Yunus Teliat Ayilara, gave this commendation in Ibadan on Tuesday while breaking his fast at Bashorun residence of the Deputy Governor, alongside notable Islamic scholars and Muslim clerics in the state.

According to him, Chief Adebayo Lawal has been instrumental to peaceful coexistence, particularly among Muslim Ummah in Ogbomosoland and other towns in Oyo State.

In his short sermon, Sheikh Yunus Ayilara described the Deputy Governor, Chief Adebayo Lawal as a true and God fearing Muslim, considering his outstanding contributions towards the growth and development of Islam in the state.

While commending Chief Lawal, who has been hosting Iftar since the beginning of Ramadan, stated that Almighty Allah grants unlimited rewards for such kind gesture here in this world and the hereafter.

He, however, commended the Deputy Governor’s wife, Her Excellency, Chief Ajibike Lawal for supporting her husband on this noble and highly rewardable act during the month of Ramadan.

Dr. Yunus Ayilara also enjoined wealthy muslim brothers and sisters to make use of various opportunities at their disposal in order to make the best of Al-janah by using their wealth to assist the needy and their communities for the betterment of the populace.

In his words: “We all have the tendency to become Allah’s friend through total submission to the will of Allah. Almighty Allah will continually grant our request in return” he stated

He finally expressed his deep gratitude to the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr Seyi Makinde over his kind gesture and unwavering support to him in particular and to Muslim Ummah across the state.

He thereafter prayed that Almighty Allah will continue to grant Gov Seyi Makinde and his Deputy the strength and wisdom for excellent performance in office.

Responding in his vote of thanks, Chief Adebayo Lawal described Dr Ayilara as a brilliant Islamic scholar with strong courage to confront challenges, while appreciating him and other Islamic clerics along with other eminent personalities for breaking their fast with him.

Chief Lawal emphazised the importance of education in every aspect of our lives and greatly lauded the Grand Chief Imam of Ogbomosoland for his scholastic achievements which greatly enhance his presentation of lectures at different occasions.

According to him “you have told us the purpose and essence of the month of Ramadan. You were so brief and direct in your lectures. It was highly educative and commendable.”

The Deputy Governor, however, described Dr Ayilara as humility personified while responding to the way and manner he described himself as an ordinary human being and that he accepted him as one of the prominent Islamic leaders in the state that should be followed.

Among dignitaries present at the Iftar were professors K.K. Oloso, Ahmad, Fatai Adeniyi, Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Salihu Adelabu; Commissioner for Special Duties, Joke Sanni; The Executive Chairman of Olorunsogo Local Government, Hon. Kazeem Olayanju, Chairman Civil Service Commission, Alhaji Kamorudeen Aderibigbe and Special Adviser on Establishment and Training, Otunba Siju Lawal.

Others were Mrs Dotun Olaitan, Chairman BCOS; Chief Y.K. Abass, Babaloja General of Oyo state; Prof. Fatai Adeniyi, Elder Adekola Adeoye and other Islamic groups.
