#80,000 Minimum Wage: Oyo Govt Will Meet Implementation Deadline – Titilola-Sodo

The Special Adviser on Labour Matters to the Governor of Oyo State, Comrade Bayo Titilola-Sodo has assured that the implementation of the #80,000 new minimum wage and consequential adjustment in the state will meet the December 1st, 2024 deadline as contained in a recent statement issued by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).

Comrade Titilola-Sodo gave this assurance in Okeho at a reception organized by the Oke-Ogun chapter of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) for Comrade Stephen Aderounmu who retired from Local Government Service of Oyo State.

According to him, “once the consequential adjustment are finalized, the resulting salary structure would be one of the most competitive in the country”, he stated.

Comrade Titilola-Sodo further disclosed that with the initial approval of #80,000 benchmark by Governor Seyi Makinde, the state workforce will smile to the bank after the conclusion of the process.

At the event, held at the Secretariat of Kajola Local Government area of the state, Com. Titilola-Sodo also emphasized the state government’s commitment to workers’ welfare.

The Special Adviser added that Governor Seyi Makinde’s worker friendly policy will continue in the state while he charged workers to reciprocate the kind gesture, saying that to whom much is given, much is expected.

He thereafter praised and described Engr. Seyi Makinde as a leader who deeply values the welfare of Oyo State workers and prioritizes their well-being in his programmes and activities.

Present at the event were Hon. Akeem Mustapha, Executive Chairman, Kajola Local Government; Mrs Adewumi Aderounmu, wife of the celebrant; Com. Rufus Babalola, National Young Workers’ Representative; Com. Waheed Opatayo, State Welfare Officer, represented the State President, Com. Ayobami Adeogun; Com. Adekunle Bogunbe and Alhaji Khalid Ajibade.

Others include Rev’d Dr. S. A Adedeji, Com. Waheed Olanrewaju, Com. Salaudeen Olaiya, Com. Richard Adekunle and other notable NULGE leaders.
