In commemoration of this year’s celebration of the birth of Prophet Muhammad SW (Maulid Nabiyy), the NASFAT Agency for Zakat and Sadaqat (NAZAS), FCT zone disbursed items worth N7.1 million to 32 beneficiaries on Saturday at the NASFAT mosque, Utako, Abuja.
In his opening remarks at the occasion, the Chairman of NAZAS, FCT Zone, Alh. Isiaq Ajibola, said the agency was primarily set up to collect, disburse and administer (zakat and sadaqat) to the needy in the society in accordance with the injunction of Almighty Allah.
According to him, since its inception in 2014, NAZAS has collected over N700 million nationwide from the wealthy and disbursed the same to the underprivileged in the society in critical areas of empowerment, health, and education assistance.
He further disclosed that the disbursement on that day was the tenth since the inauguration of the agency in Abuja in 2019.
The event featured many goodwill messages from other Council members, including Barr. S.O.Q Giwa, Alhaji Adebayo Kilani, and Abdulganiyu Balogun. They all reiterated the need for the beneficiaries to ensure that donations are used judiciously so that they can ultimately become Zakat donors themselves in the future.
Barr SOQ Giwa reminded them that the true impact of zakat lies in its potential to lift individuals out of poverty and become independence.
Spokesperson of the beneficiaries expressed deep gratitude to NAZAS for the life-changing support. He shared how financial aid would help address immediate needs and enable many to plan for the future.
“We are incredibly grateful to NASFAT and the donors who have contributed to this cause. You have touched our lives in ways that words cannot fully express. We promise to use the funds wisely and work hard to uplift ourselves and our families,” the spokesperson added.
He also offered prayers for the agency, the donors, and everyone involved in making the event a success, calling on Allah to shower His blessings on them.
