The Oyo State Government through the state Mobilization Agency for Social Economic Development will soon begin re-orientation of youths in the state owned tertiary institutions.
Speaking during a working visit to the office of the Rector, The Polytechnic Ibadan, The OYMASED DG, Dr Morohunkola Thomas said the restitiveness among youths has made them neglect positive values.
Dr Thomas while reeling out the mission of the agency said youths which comprises students in the institution are the future leaders of tomorrow, hence, the need to teach them the core values needed for their mental development.
He added that students no longer value hardwork but a fast way to make it in life. He noted that cultism, thuggery, bullying, taking of illicit substance, indecent dressing among others should be discouraged among youths.
‘Bullying, thuggery, indecent dressing, illicit drugs/substance and other vices are now on the rise as youths prefer to get rich quickly instead of imbibing the spirit of tolerance, perseverance and honesty’, he said.
While appreciating the workforce of the institution for their quality of service, the OYMASED DG said all hands must be on deck to ensure that products of the institution are well behaved in the society.
